Stop Throwing Weights Around and Use Proper Technique

I go to the gym all the time and see guys throwing around big weights they should not be lifting.  They are using horrible technique, but they look strong as they yell and scream.  They are wasting there time and running the risk of hurting themselves.

A lot of people unknowingly do this because they see so many people doing it.  What I am talking about is swinging the weights around using momentum to help you get the weight back up.  Or bouncing a bar off your chest when bench pressing.

By using momentum to help you swing a curl bar back and forth, you can put more weight on the bar and appear stronger, but it is not really helping you.

You should lift weights slowly and under control.  For example when you curl you are using different muscles when you lift the weight up than when you lower it down.  But many people just let gravity drop the weight back down to there waist and then swing their hips to help to swing the weight back up.  You miss half the workout this way.

Instead slowly lower the weight down with your arms doing the work instead of gravity.  Then when you bring the weight back up, don't swing your body to get the weight moving, use your arms.  I know for many of you this will mean you have to put less weight on the bar.  But it will result in huge gains and much stronger arms.  And you will greatly reduce the risk of injury.
