Why Squats are Important - For Women Too!

Squats, the exercise every hates to do.  But did you know it is probably one of the most important exercises you should have in your routine.

The soreness and the challenge of doing them is overwhelming for many.  But if you're serious about fitness it is a must do exercise.

When I say squats, I mean actual squats with a bar in a rack.  Not leg presses on a machine.

There are several reasons why squats are important.  First of all, muscle burns more calories than fat does.  So by have a little more lean muscle you will burn more calories all day, even while you sleep.

Few exercises will help you to build muscle like squats will.  You dont have to lift big huge weight and grow gigantic thighs to see the effect.  But who does not want lean tone legs?

Squats help you to build not only your legs but your core.  It strengthens your back and your abs.  It helps you to have strong balance.  It is nearly a full body strengthening exercises.

You simply do not get the core building benefits by doing leg presses.

Because of the stress squats put on your body they help you to burn more calories than most weight lifting exercises.

The big thing is to make sure you stretch and use proper technique while doing squats.  I have seen more people injure themselves doing squats than all other weight lifting exercises combined.  So be careful and use a spotter.
